HI Nicole. My name is Stephanie Vance. I was leafing through the internet looking up all sorts of things about Sloan Kettering, and I stumbled across your page. I didn't regognize your name, but once I saw your face, I realised that we were being seen, and undergoing treatment at Sloan kettering at the same time. I am also a patient of Dr. Trippet's. I was thrilled to hear that you are doing well. I was treated there for Ovarian Cancer when I was 15, my last Chemo was in November of 2003 and continue to do well. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Stay healthy!

I don’t know if your dad has told you but my Lymphoma is back, one node under my left arm is all that they have found and I have no symptoms so we are just watching and waiting, with blood tests every month and CT Scans every other month.

You continue to be my inspiration. It is supposed to be the adults, who are role models for their kids, but you, who have the grace and courage I wish I could have, and Leslie and Dayton who face Sawyer’s problems with humor and love have taught me much about how life should be lived even when you are thrown a rough curve.

Let us continue to pray for each other and I promise you that I will dance at your wedding.

As we light our Hannukah candles this year, we have much to be thankful for. Sawyer is growing and thriving and, like many children with impaired vision, he seems to have perfect pitch. He can parrot a song back to you or hum a melody after only hearing it once on the piano. He and his 1 year old sister are behaving as they should, never missing a chance to punch out the other when mom or dad is not looking. As we have every year since we met you, one candle will be for you, Nicole.

Hi Nicole,

I was just looking on windows media for "Hero" by Mariah Carey, and your site popped up. I am touched. Just today I listened to a sister of one of my old teachers talk about her struggle with cancer. He was a perfect match for her, and after undergoing a bone marrow transplant, she was at our school to praise the Father for her healing. I couldn't imagine going through something like that, and I pray that God will keep you healthy! I was looking at your pictures, and you are such a beautiful young lady! Despite the hardships you have gone through in your life, you literally light up! Praise God! Keep looking up! God Bless you hunn!

Hello, my dear-sweet-first-cousin-once-removed (it's true - look it up!) Just pausing in my craziness to say hi and tell you the following:
1) It was great seeing you during this past summer at G&D's party. You look awesome, and I took some lovely photos which I will get around to sending soon. I also have video of you and the kids playing volleyball in the pool and having chicken fights! We all had such a great time, didn't we? I hope we get together like that every year!
2) My choir is still praying for you and we will never stop. This is one
of the reasons you are still in remission! We alternate between prayers

I was very touched by Nicole's site. My friend too needed a bone marrow donor after relapsing from acute myeloblastic leukemia. There was an 80% chance of her relapsing after her second remission. She never found a match but never relapsed following her second remission. That was May 1996 and she's still well and living a life as amazing as Nicole's.

I am hopeful that like my friend Natasa, Nicole too will not relapse--despite the odds and still be here in 10 years to tell her story.

In the meantime, I am continuing to encourage people to sign up for the Registry throughout the stories I publish in the newspaper and my website.

Thank you again Nicole for inspiring us to have hope.
